Like Sands Through The Hands of Children, These Are the Days of Our Lives

what? So I ad libbed. whatever.
Note: Still vacation pictures…. I’ll intersperse them throughout until I run out of my favorites.
Note2: I love how you can see that little bit of sand dropping out of his hands on the way down.

Peeping Thomasina?

Note: Finally inspired to take something — anything — hoping to keep forcing myself for a few weeks until I get back into a groove.
Note2: If you are a student of mine, you know I’m not a huge fan of super tilting a photo. But I was too lazy to move backwards and this was the only way to get her whole body in the shot. And I STILL missed and sliced off the top of her head. Whoops.

Misty Ocean View

Note: This makes me think of those cheesy cards you buy at Tar*get that have some sappy verse on the inside that is supposed you make you somehow feel better but never really does…. Or possibly the ones about two people spending the rest of their days together looking out over the ocean? You know…sentimental crap. But I liked it anyway.

Chemists at Work

Note:Oregon Museum of Science and Industry - OMSI - one of my favorite museums! Loved that place as a kid. Still love it as an adult!
Note2: Actually, I love ANY science museum. Science is fun. Wheeee!
Note3: We have memberships to the Arizona Science Museum….
Note4: The lighting in this room was AWFUL, but I took the pictures anyway because the moment was so important to capture. If you are a student of mine, you know how I feel about this! Technically perfect photos are not as important as photos that convey emotion and meaning! This image is a perfect example of that.
Note5: At some point soon I am going to run out of images from this trip and have to start actually taking more. I just don’t want to. I know it has to do with something being all messed up inside me right now. And I accept that. I’m having trouble answering the question “what’s the point”, which is quite a bit unfair. Because I KNOW what the point is — I enjoy it and I love that I have these moments captured for my kids. Especially moments like this one. I need to just pick my camera back up and go for it. Somehow, I just can’t…

Laundry Day

Note 1: Since we were gone for two weeks, we had to stop in the middle and do some laundry.
Note 2: She looks like a monkey here.
Note 3: The headband in her hair she stole from my grandmother. She’s a cleptomaniac at 2 years old.
Note 4: After we got back, one of my photography students posted these pictures and I laughed and laughed because I knew how it felt to be taking pictures in a laundromat and I knew that she now knew, too. Great minds think alike, Julie-Girl.

Rose’s Roses

Note: My grandmother’s name is Rose. So she has roses planted all over the farm. These were in this beautiful late afternoon light with the sun hitting the bright green of the blackberry brambles behind and making them glow like green jewels. It was perfect. I love this shot.
