There Is So Much Wrong With This Picture

Note: I’m working on on-camera cross lighting with a flash. Which is a lot harder than off-camera with an umbrella. Oy. But I want to be able to explain how to get it to work well to my flash workshop students who will be here next month and it’s been a while since I’ve done it!
Note2: Things wrong with this picture: Hello Flare! Pretty sure I don’t like it here. And how about the really uneven light on Elijah and the falloff lower down on Kelley and it’s a bit harsh on her AND his face and somehow I didn’t quite get this framed right and missed the sunburst I was going for (which hovers somewhere outside of the frame above Kelley) and and and and…..

BUT! It’s a picture of KELLEY! And I MISS HER! And I WANT HER TO MOVE BACK HERE! And Switzerland can’t possibly appreciate her as much as Arizona does! So, despite all of the horribly wrong things technically with this picture, I’m including it because it’s her.

Backyard View

Note: See the birdies?? They’re my favorite part.
Note2: Didn’t do much to edit this in photoshop. This was what it looked like out there! SO PRETTY!

Introducing: KRAPP ™ Birth Control

Note: Kids, Rugs, and Porcelain Pots (KRAPP) is my current idea for marketable birth control. Mix one small child, one waste filled toilet stuffed with an entire roll of toilet paper, and your household hallway and bedrooms and you have and instant form of birth control for all of your childless friends. Invite them over to help clean up the mess. It’s all you need to convince them that having children is NOT a good idea.
Note2: One professional cleaning plus one Rug Doctor Cleaning minus $200 from teh checking account and you have — a still slightly smelly house.
Note3: CLOSEOUT SALE ON SMALL CHILDREN! EVERYTHING MUST GO! HURRY! THESE WON’T LAST! ONLY TWO LEFT! FREE SHIPPING! ACCESSORIES INCLUDED!

Excuse me, sir, do you have any BACON?

Note: Should have switched lenses to get his whole body, but I was just too lazy to get up and do so.

85mm lens (that should have been my 16-35mm…..)

Take Me To Your Leader

Note: He’s not fat, he’s FLUFFY. I SWEAR!
Note2: He’s also an idiot. I mean that as a term of love.

Hold on one second, Barbie. I have to get rid of the lame Paparazzi

Note: Guess who is visiting from SWITZERLAND!?!?!?!
Note2: I have a picture in which she actually looks really really really bad. Which is HARD to do, because I have never met anyone quite as photogenic as this girl. But I would like to remain her friend, so I will just print it life size and hang it in my room rather than posting it on the internet.
Note3: Note2 shows what a wonderful friend I am. Because I was SERIOUSLY tempted to show it to ya’ll.
Note4: One of my students recently asked me how to frame a portrait to match the Golden Triangle rule of composition. This one is really close. Just FYI.

Can You Stand on Your Head?

Note: For some reason I was inspired today to teach the boy how to stand on his head. This required first DEMONSTRATING the technique. Which was interesting. And I am glad my children can not yet run a camera.
Note2: When ever I hear anything about head stands of any sort, I can’t help but hear the Cheshire Cat in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland asking Alice if she can stand on her head. Yes. I agree. It’s totally random. And Yes, I also know that you are SO GLAD I shared.

Self-Portrait Tuesday: Love Edition

Note: I know today is an important day to remember. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Ostrich School of Coping Skills. So instead of remembering all of the awful things that happened on this day 6 years ago, I’d rather focus on all of the reasons I am thankful for what I have.
Note2: Not a lot of pictures of the Boy Child recently… having trouble adjusting to him being in school all day and getting the timing right for that to work out.

AND…. because you’d think one day of this trick was enough… it wasn’t…. she made me do it with her….only apparently I can’t frame this shot quite as well and I seem to have lost half my face. Whoops.

New Haricut

Note: I asked her to sit nice so we could see her pretty new haircut. She flopped over on her back and shoved until her head hung off the side of the bed and then giggled until every ounce of blood in her body had to be in her head.
Note2: Which explains why her face is pink.
Note3: Why is this always such a fun feeling as a kid but hurts like crazy as an adult? They should do one of those useless but very expensive studies on that. Along with spinning around until you are so dizzy you can’t see straight for the next 3 weeks.

85mm lens.

Want to see a picture of her haircut right side up?

Sure you do.

Does two pictures here make up for the fact that I just sort of skipped the 7th and 8th? Did any of you even notice? Maybe I should have just not said anything….Me and my stupid big mouth.
