RWS: a Picture a Day - 2008

She’s got a way about her
I don’t know what it is
But I know that I can’t live without her
She’s got a way of pleasin’
I don’t know why it is
But there doesn’t have to be a reason anywhere

She’s got a smile that heals me
I don’t know what it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She’s got a way of talkin’
I don’t know why it is
But it lifts me up when we are walkin’ anywhere

She comes to me when I’m feelin’ down
Inspires me without a sound
She touches me and I get turned around
She’s got a way of showin’
How I make her feel
And I find the strength to keep on goin’
She’s got a light around her
And ev’rywhere she goes a million
Dreams of love surround her ev’rewhere

She comes to me when I’m feelin’ down
Inspires me without a sound
She touches me, I get turned around oh oh oh

She’s got a smile that heals me
I don’t know why it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She’s got a way about her
I don’t know what it is
But I know that I can’t live without her any way

~Billy Joel, She’s Got a Way

Love you, Baby Girl.

Self-Portrait Tuesday: Itchy Trigger Finger Edition

I’m so FIERCE.

HA!

My mom is looking at this and thinking “I don’t know what she’s doing but what I DO know is that she probably didn’t CLEAN ANYTHING, no matter what this picture shows her doing….”

And she’d be right. Sort of. I did clean. Eventually. Two days later. Whatever.

Happy Birthday, Peanut!

Note: Six years ago today I was being rushed into an emergency c-section with little or no clue about what all was happening around me. Six years ago today this guy was born 10 weeks and 2 days earlier than he should have been. Six years ago today he weighed in at a ginormous 2 pounds 9 ounces. Six years ago today I was introduced to my Tiny Hero. Six years ago today I was blessed with the bravest, strongest, most determined little one I know. Six years ago today my world shifted 180 degrees and it was no longer all about me. Six years ago today I loved this guy more than I ever though possible. Six years ago today I didn’t understand how love can grow just a little more each day.

Thank you, Peanut, for being a blessing, a joy, a beautiful and wonderful human being who teaches me something every day. I love you, Buddy! Happy 6th Birthday!

Expecting

Note: I don’t show a lot of my client work on here because I want it to be more the story of me and my family rather than the story of my business. But I took absolutely no other pictures this day and then my electricity went out and then I just gave up. I gave up on doing anything because it had been ONE OF THOSE DAYS. But I certainly loved the time I spent with this Soon To Be Family of Five.

They *might* like each other, sort of, for 5 seconds every day

Note: Elijah’s 6th birthday is on Monday and so we took a few minutes today to take some pictures. We also celebrated with cake and ice cream and presents today since Monday is going to be a fairly hectic day.
Note2: My mom and I were talking in pig latin today in order to “avoid detection” by little ears. When I said something was Upid-Stay, Elijah asked what it meant.

“What do YOU think it means, buddy?”

“Ummm…. Birthday?”

“WOW! you’re so SMART! That’s exactly what it means!”

“Hey Katie! Woopid-Stay means ‘birthday’!!”

Happy Woopid-Stay (observed!), Buddy! Looking forward to the REAL day on Monday!

Carefree

Note: We spent the morning out taking photos with one of my former students and had a blast! Thank you Janelle and Ashley for a fantastic morning!

Twirling

Note: I often tell my students to be inspired by the light - this is one of those instances…. Katie ran down the hall and I was turned towards her and she hit the light at the corner right there and it was beautiful and she kept on running. So I went and got the camera and came back and bribed her with marshmallows to do some twirls down there at the end of the hall….. She readily agreed. Marshmallows are like GOLD to that kid.

Desert Bokeh

Note: I changed my “save for web” action and something in it must have altered my “create a fancy border” action and so now I have a the SUPAH-fancy border….. ha! Will fix it, sorry the image is huge!
Note2: The desert this year is FABULOUS. I love it when we have so much rain - every catcus around here is covered in an insane amount of flowers. These are nothing to write home about because we always have these every year…. but at some point really soon here I’m going to get a good shot of a saguaro flower for you all…. I just need to find a ladder….
