We have way too much fun now that it’s just us girls at home every day.

Playing with the Fish

Who knew fish could be so much fun? She loves to sit there and open the top and make fishy faces at them and put the tip of her finger in the water to see if she can get them to nibble. I did not know PRIOR to this that you COULD play with fish. I mean, I know Elmo has Dorothy and they talk to her all the time, but this is a new experience with the amount of time she spends up there talking to them. Totally makes me laugh. She’s such a goofball!

Self-Portrait Tuesday: Look What Came in the Mail

My Blurb book of the entire blog from last year. It’s so fun to see all of the images and the text that went with them IN PRINT. Love that! And the book is very well made. I love love love it!

First Day of First Grade

I think he’s excited? Maybe? Just a little bit?

(oh. wow. that’s big. LOL — once again, I seem to have screwed up my resize action. Hate it when that happens!)

Memorial-Marking One Year

The love that once was born can not die
For it has become part of us, of our life,
Woven into the very texture of our being.
Each of us would wish to leave some part of ourselves,
So here and now we bear witness to the one we knew in life,
Who now in death bequeaths a subtle part, precious and beloved,
Which will be with us in truth and beauty,
In dignity and courage and love
To the end of our days.

~Algernon Black

I miss you, Dad. Every single day.

Playing

This totally reminded me of that frequent short in Laugh-In The muppets (or was it HeeHaw? Or maybe the gong show??) where there was a wall of windows and one person would pop out the upper window and tell a joke and then another person would pop out the lower window and be the straight man. I totally can’t remember what show it was….but them playing like this was sort of a weird childhood TV flashback.

Someone help me out with what show it was, though, because it’s driving me NUTS! :) THANK YOU KAREN! She’s right, it was Laugh-In. I totally forgot that show even existed.

Also, hate the extreme tilt here, but I was shooting with my 85mm and in order to not tilt it I would have had to have been somewhere near the middle of my backyard and frankly, I was too lazy to do anything about that. So the tilt is brought to you by Lazy Photographer. You’re welcome.

Popsicle Toes

Doesn’t that usually mean someone who has cold toes? Hmmm.

I gave the kids popsicles yesterday afternoon. Which went over fine until Katie’s fell out of the wrapper and landed on the ground. Tragedy. I gave her a new one with the understanding that from now on, if her popsicles land on the ground, she doesn’t get a new one. The next one she made it almost half way through before she let the wrapper flop forward and out flew her popsicle, right down the slide and into the grass. Popsicles never had so much fun. Wheee!

Totally off topic, but my spell checker insists the word “popsicle” is a formal noun and wants to capitalize it. Am I the only person who thinks this is weird or is popsicle like Kleenex and there is really a generic name for them a la “tissue” like ice pops or something? The things that I spend my time thinking about are extraordinarily important, as you can see.

Desperation

I told you when I saw the light yesterday that I was going to do something creepy… I think I might need to start a Creepy Self Portraits category. I don’t know I go creepy on some of them. I can NOT watch creepy movies or read scary books. I don’t try to understand myself. It would take too long to figure me out.

Watch out — tomorrow is going to be creepy

seeing this today gave me a fantastic idea for a self-portrait. You’ll just have to wait until tomorrow to see it though! :)

Swinging Flowers

I took this not today. It’s true. I confess. But I liked it so you get to see it anyway :)
