Self-Portrait Random Day: Blue Steel and Fun with Flash

Note: Just playing around with the trying to get flash stuff to work. This was taken in my laundry room, which is such a tiny tiny room. 580EX on camera fired and bounced off of white cabinets over the washer/dryer and Vivitar 285 snooted on 1/16th with Neutral density filter fired at wall.
Note2: Blue Steel? Who? haha…..stupid movies…..

16-35mm lens | 1/200 @ f/9.0 | ISO 200, 580EX TTL exp comp of 0, Vivitar 285 Full ND filter 1/6th power
pp: I love the healing tool. Almost as much as I love the liquify filter. I bow down to the photoshop people who invented both of those.

Self-Portrait Tuesday: Why it’s Good to Have Friends who get Boob Jobs Edition

Note: My friend got her Post-Divorce Boobs (no, I did not go this route!) and as a result has no use for the multitude of brassieres that just happen to be MY non-big-boobed size…. it’s like waking up and realizing Victoria’s Secret barfed all over your underwear drawer.

16-35mm lens @ 35mm | 1/100 @ f/3.2 | ISO 640
pp: defog, crisp color boost, my favorite friend the liquify tool, Pioneer Woman’s Quick Edge Burn at low opacity. resize and sharpen for web

Turtle Turtle Turtle….

Note: There was this girl I knew at Band Camp in high school (I know! I TOTALLY KNOW what you are thinking, but it wasn’t like that) and she could make this awesome turtle face. I swear she looked just like a turtle and I was always so impressed with it and then totally cracked up by it at the same time. I am SO happy to see that my darling sweetpea can make THE SAME FACE! It’s a gift I’m sure she will treasure.

Note2: She can make some pretty goofy faces, this one. It’s like she has individual control of each and every muscle group in her face. It’s some kind of CRAZINESS, I tell you.

Note3: Yeah, I took this yesterday, what are you gonna do about it? huh? huh? BRING IT!

85mm lens | 1/2000 @ f/1.8 | ISO 320
pp: defog, crisp color boost, softy bleach at low opacity, high pass lighten at 4%, erin’s standard color at 50%, resize and sharpen for web (turtle!)

Mellow Yellow, Quite Rightly

Note: Spent the morning with one of my amazing students, Jill, who also happens to be pregnant with her fourth baby (brave, brave, BRAVE woman!)

We had a great time walking around down town Gilbert just messing around and talking photo stuff and trying to get my kids to cooperate. Elijah was out of school today for some sort of reason that I’m not clear on and so he was around, too. Which made things interesting.

Note2: Love the Nikon Attitude!

85mm lens | 1/2000 @ f/2.8 | ISO 200
pp: white balance corrected, defog, Vintage Film v1.0 by Fallout75 from flickr, resize and sharpen for web

And a bonus shot from today of Katie pretending to be in jail:

Self-Portrait Tuesday: Dirty Jeans in a Cleaner Garage Edition

Note: Due to some recent circumstances, it became time to clean the garage at my mom’s house. We’ve let 9 months of stuff just sort of accumulate in there and we had left everything my dad had out just sitting out or mid-project. So we spent all of a day last week and then all of today working on it.
Note2: And now these jeans are seriously filthy.
Note3: That’s a 1913 Regal Underslung Chassis behind me.
Note4: Technically, not a self portrait as I had my mom take this. 🙂

16-35mm lens @ 31mm | 1/80 @ f/4 | ISO 1600 | WB set to Tungsten
pp: 300 effect home brew | resize and sharpen for web

pp: defog, crisp color boost, tonal change with gradiant at 5%, texture overlay — basically, I’m just messing around with stuff in photoshop.
